Climathon Tallinn, a 24-hour climate hackathon, took place on the 28th-29th of October at TalTech Mektory. The hackathon brought together 27 participants who worked in teams to find solutions to our climate and sustainability problems.
The participants had the opportunity to attend three workshops (Design Thinking and Pitching training led by Kaisa Hansen and Stakeholder Engagement by Katerina Chantzi), work with mentors from the cleantech ecosystem, and receive instant and valuable feedback to develop their ideas.
5 ideas were presented to the jury for the final pitching:
Beety Inc. – enhancing city biodiversity through urban beekeeping.
C&C – eco-tourism community development in Southern Italy.
Cool Arctic – filter system for ships emissions.
EASY5 – a 5-minute self-assessment tool for calculating the environmental impact of startups.
Plastic Shell – recycled plastic products for construction and logistics.
The top 3 teams (Beety Inc., Cool Arctic, and Plastic Shell) won up to 1000€ and 3 months of mentoring from Cleantech Estonia to develop their ideas further.
In addition, 6 special prizes were given out:
Access to Prototron autumn programme – Cool Arctic
Access to the pre-accelerator programme of Beamline Accelerator – Beety Inc.
6 months of free co-working space from Mektory – Cool Arctic
1h meeting with an EstBAN angel – Plastic Shell
Tickets to sTARTUp Day – Beety Inc.
Dinner at Lee Restaurant – EASY5
The jury consisted of Kaisa Hansen (Head of TalTech Startup Center), Toomas Toodu (Green Cluster Community Manager at Pärnu County Development Center), and Indrek Kelder (CFO at Cleantech Estonia). The teams were mentored by Kadri Piho (Cleantech Estonia), Indrek Kelder (Cleantech Estonia), Kaisa Hansen (TalTech Startup Center), Sander Õun (Suckõrs), Johanna-Maria Siilak (KWOTA), and Yelena Zhovnikova.
Climathon Tallinn 2022 was organized by Cleantech Estonia and TalTech Mektory.
