Press release • ProProtein
Female driven Estonian precision fermentation start up looks for capital to cut the cow out of the dairy industry.
Through March and April ProProtein will be raising a seed round funding for 700k€. This funding push comes after the confirmation of successful casein expression by co-founder and CSO Tiina Tamm PhD.
Caseins are essential functional proteins in milk that give cheese the ability to melt and stretch as well as traditional flavours. Meaning cheese without cows is coming.
“It's an exciting time, to have casein expression was a big milestone,” says CEO Kaisa Orgusaar.
“With this next funding round we will focus on optimizing our yields and going through safety analysis, so the work is just beginning,” she continues with a smile on her face.
The ProProtein team has previously raised approximately 90k€ from angels, competitions and the ProVeg accelerator out of Berlin.
“Our long term goal is ultimately related to impact,” says Project Manager Toni Bode.
“Climate solutions that have a desire to create impact need to be highly scalable and that's where we are headed,” he adds.
